The Permission I Never Gave Myself

I needed to stop before I could move forward.

After months of preparation — founding Acoustic Healing, recording with three extraordinary musicians, and navigating the early life of an independent project — I found myself in Hawaii last week, watching the sun set over the Pacific with my family.

For a long time, during my years as a pharmacist, I didn't give myself permission to do that. Healthcare professionals carry a quiet belief that stepping away is a luxury we can't afford. The patients need us. The schedule needs us. The work needs us.

But I have learned — slowly, and sometimes the hard way — that the work also needs us to be whole.

I came home recharged. Ready. And deeply grateful.

Acoustic Healing continues to move forward at a deliberate pace. Our founding recordings are in post-production editing. This week I look forward to meeting with the studio to continue that conversation. Completion is anticipated in the fall.

To every healthcare professional reading this: please make time for yourself. Not someday. Now. You cannot give what you do not have.
